We provide for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the homeless of Berks County to share the life-changing message of the Gospel with the HOPE of seeing them restored to a productive life.

Case managers identify & coordinate support for the wide range of factors that led to each man's homelessness that include mental health, addiction, legal and financial struggles.

GENESIS

Genesis is our initial emergency shelter program that provides up to six months of support to 100 men per night.  Guests are provided three meals daily, free clothing and personal care items, and access to Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, and showers. Each evening, guests are encouraged to attend chapel services led by local church partners.

SAFE HAVEN

Safe Haven is our next step emergency shelter program that provides up to three months of support to 53 men per night who have attained gainful employment or fixed income benefits.  Guests stay in a more private environment and have their own lockable wardrobe and electrical outlets.  Guests enjoy access to the same resources listed under Genesis.

TRANSITIONAL HOUSING

Our Transitional Housing program supports men who are ready to move beyond emergency shelter into a more stable, goal-oriented living environment. Through our Work Transition and Fixed Income tracks, guests can enter into housing contracts of up to six months. Seniors may qualify for extended stays of up to one year.  Transitional Housing offers 90 single-occupancy, fully furnished rooms, providing guests with dignity, privacy, and personal space for the duration of their time in the program.

This program is designed to help residents save money, learn to manage a personal budget, and work closely with our Case Management Team to secure permanent housing that aligns with their income and individual circumstances.

To qualify, individuals must first complete the emergency shelter program and demonstrate financial stability prior to transitioning into this program.

EDUCATIONAL, INFORMATIONAL, AND VOCATIONAL PROGRAMS

Alongside our Life Coaching program, which offers both group classes and one-on-one meetings focused on basic life skills and spiritual enrichment—we provide a variety of programs throughout the year. These offerings are designed to promote personal growth, educational advancement, and job readiness:

  • Workforce Development Classes

  • GED Preparation Classes

  • Smoking Cessation Classes

  • One-on-One Weekly Mentorship Opportunities

These programs are made available at various times and are intended to help participants move toward greater stability and independence.

MENTAL HEALTH AND
SUBSTANCE USE SUPPORT

Through our partnership with Berks Counseling Center, we offer Resilient Horizons — a comprehensive program that provides mental health, drug and alcohol, and dual diagnosis services to participants in need of clinical support.

In partnership with Recovery Coaching Services, we also offer individual recovery coaching, support groups, and referral services to treatment and recovery programs.

Additionally, we host onsite AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and NA (Narcotics Anonymous) meetings to support ongoing recovery and peer connection.

These programs are available throughout the year and are designed to meet individuals wherever they are on their recovery and personal development journey.
