for more information on how to volunteer!

Nightly Chapel

From 6-6:30pm every night we have a chapel service that is required for our Safe Haven men to attend. We are in need of evangelistic testimonies and Scripture-driven messages, as well as music ministry if possible.

Food Prep & Service

We serve 3 meals daily – 7:00am, 12pm, and 6:30 pm. Partner with our Kitchen Staff to help prepare & serve a meal. The greatest need for help is during our 6:30pm meal that serves approx. 80 men in the summer and 110 men in the winter.

We have been blessed with a huge, 4-story main building, as well as a separate warehouse and thrift store. We are always in need of help to clean our facilities and sort & organize donated items. You could also partner with several Hope Rescue Mission men to pick up trash or clean a public area.

Hope Outlet

In our two thrift stores, we receive donations on a daily basis. Volunteers are able to help sort items, hang items, organize shelves, and help with cleaning.

Depending on skill levels of volunteers, we have projects ranging from painting to electrical wiring, plumbing, carpentry, etc. Let us know what you can do, and we’ll find the right project for you!

Despite our urban location, we have plenty of grass to cut, bushes to trim, flowers to plant, leaves to rake, etc. We have raised-bed “Hope Gardens” that yield a wonderful amount of produce for our kitchen, and we always need help with them!

Community Service

Great opportunity for high school students to meet their community service requirements too!

Do you have office experience? We would love to have helpers with mailings, filing and simple data processing.

We have hosted GED prep classes, online job search classes, resume writing & interview skills seminars, ESL classes, etc, through our computer lab. If you are interested in helping enrich men’s lives in any of these areas, your help is greatly needed!

Since 1894, Hope Rescue Mission has been a place of refuge for the homeless men of Berks County, PA. We offer four residential programs that men can work their way through to transition back into the community as productive and independent individuals.
