Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Hope Rescue Mission!
Whether your plan is to come as an individual, or as part of a larger group, we appreciate your desire to serve others. Here are some ideas of how you could partner with us, and our hope is that you will leave feeling encouraged and excited about what God is doing here!
From 6-6:30pm every night we have a chapel service that is required for our Safe Haven men to attend. We are in need of evangelistic testimonies and Scripture-driven messages, as well as music ministry if possible.
Food Preparation & Service
We serve 4 meals daily – 6:00am, 11am, 4:30pm, and 6:30 pm. You could partner with our Kitchen Staff to help prepare and serve a meal, or you could give our staff a break and prepare your own meal to serve here. The greatest need for help is during our 6:30pm meal that serves approx. 80 men in the summer and 110 men in the Winter.
We have been blessed with a huge, 4-story main building, as well as a separate warehouse and thrift store. We are always in need of help to clean our facilities and sort & organize donated items. You could also help us bless the surrounding community by partnering with several Hope Rescue Mission men to pick up trash or clean a public area.
Plan a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, indoor soccer games, or exercise activities to mix Hope Rescue Mission men with outside volunteers to build relationships and promote physical and emotional health.
We have hosted GED prep classes, online job search classes, resume writing & interview skills seminars, ESL classes, etc, through our computer lab. If you are interested in helping enrich men’s lives in any of these areas, your help is greatly needed!
Depending on skill levels of volunteers, we have projects ranging from painting to electrical wiring, plumbing, carpentry, etc. Let us know what you can do, and we’ll find the right project for you!
Despite our urban location, we have plenty of grass to cut, bushes to trim, flowers to plant, leaves to rake, etc. We have raised-bed “Hope Gardens” that yield a wonderful amount of produce for our kitchen, and we always need help with them! You can help us build, plant, pull weeds, harvest, and eat!
Do you have office experience? We would love to have helpers with mailings, filing and simple data processing.
Great opportunity for high school students to meet their community service requirements too!
